Donate or sponsor a bench


Celebrate a birth, anniversary, achievement or someone's life in a unique fashion by dedicating a bench for that special person or occasion.  Sponsoring a bench or picnic table is a great way for local business to get behind their local community and advertise their name 365 days a year.     

Wembdon PACT are aiming to install 3-4  recycled plastic benches within the Woodland and Prairie Orchard of Wembdon Parklands.  Providing the public with resting places where people can meet new friends or simply sit and take in the fauna.   Recycled plastic benches have the visual look of wood but the advantages of plastic  which create high quality seats that stay attractive and easy to maintain for many  years.

 We are pleased to announce we have been awarded funding  of £70,306 from Viridor Credits.

  • Chairperson Lorna Edwards said, “We are delighted to have been awarded this large sum from Viridor Credits, which takes our total raised so far to just over £85,000. This means we will be able to start work on the Parklands, this summer.  This is a huge boost towards our target of £145,000.

'When most of us come up against a public area that’s not being utilised as well as it should be, we might grumble, maybe even write a letter to the Mercury, or the council, and move on.

But not Lorna Edwards.

When she struggled to use the Wembdon Parklands due to her own physical problems, and encountered others who were experiencing difficulties, she decided to act.

Lorna got on to her parish council – eventually becoming a councillor herself – and set up the Wembdon Parklands and Community Together Group – Wembdon PACT – and set off on a journey to transform the area.

After raising countless thousands, the group is now looking forward to a July start on a scheme which will see the area transformed into a multi-use recreational facility accessible to ALL… '
